Sacramento auto shop damaged in fire

SACRAMENTO - A fire damaged a longstanding auto repair center near the Arden area of Sacramento on Monday morning.

Spokesperson Rashawn Fulcher of the Sacramento Metro Fire Department reported that firefighters responded to a call of a fire at Chet & Cliff's Garage at 2025 Fulton Ave. around 2 a.m. and found flames and smoke billowing from the roof.

Firefighters immediately searched the garage and found nobody inside before beginning containment and ventilation efforts.

Thirty-four firefighters in total cooperated in the effort, minimizing the amount of structural damage and extinguishing the fire before it spread to neighboring businesses, said Fulcher .

According to firefighters on scene, Arson investigators called to the building determined the fire started in the shop's business office, but did not specifically state how the fire began.

There were no signs of forced entry into the building, said firefighters.

Firefighters estimated the damage sustained at about $80,000.
