One dead after shooting outside gas station

SACRAMENTO - A deadly shooting prompts a search for an armed person on a bicycle Saturday night.

The Sacramento Sheriff's Department received reports of a shooting a little before 11:30 p.m. in the 3100 block of El Camino Ave, in front of a gas station.

When deputies arrived on scene they found a man, who has been identified as 33-year-old Jesus Antonio Macias, lying on the ground outside.

The victim had sustained a gunshot wound to his upper body and was later pronounce deceased by the Fire Department that arrived on scene.

The person believed to be responsible for the shooting left the area on a bicycle. Deputies set up a perimeter but were unable to locate him.

DEA: Sacramento-area meth trafficking ring busted

SACRAMENTO, CA - Seven men, most of them from Sacramento, were arrested Thursday on allegations they ran a methamphetamine distribution operation.

The Drug Enforcement Administration investigation began last August. According to the criminal complaint, DEA agents used a confidential source, undercover buys, court-sanctioned phone taps and surveillance to build their case for arrest warrants for:

  • Armando Flores Vasquez of Sacramento
  • Serafin Magallon of Atwater
  • Jose Maneul Garica of Garcia
  • Luis Fernando Morales of Sacramento
  • Joshua Avila of Rio Linda
  • Miguel Angel Rangel of San Jose
  • Salvador Padilla of Sacramento

Vasquez, Magallon and Rangel were the alleged ring leaders of the operation.

Police: Sacramento youth baseball coach arrested for molestation

SACRAMENTO, CA - A Sacramento man faces allegations he molested a teenage relative on multiple occasions over the past four years, says the Sacramento Police Department.

Daniel Kirk, 42, was taken into custody Friday following an investigation.

The alleged sexual abuse took place at least once in Sacramento and on other occasions outside of the jurisdiction, investigators say.

Kirk is a coach for a youth baseball team in the north part of the city. Detectives urged anyone who may have been victimized by Kirk to contact their dispatch center at (916) 264-5471 or Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP (4357) or text in a tip to 274637 (CRIMES). Enter SACTIP followed by the tip information. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.

ID sought on suspected burglars captured on ATM camera

SACRAMENTO - The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department is seeking the public's assistance in identifying several individuals suspected of burglarizing a Sacramento home then trying to access the victim's bank account.

According to a post on the Sacramento County Sheriff's Dept. Facebook page, the suspected burglars forced their way into a residence near Arden Way and Bell Street on Jan. 8. Once inside, they allegedly stole numerous personal items, including three guns.

Later the same evening, several individuals were caught on a Bank of America ATM camera at Morse Ave. and Arden Wy. trying to use the burglary victim's stolen credit cards, said the Sheriff's Dept.
