Arrest made in 2012 attempted rape near ARC | Crime
SACRAMENTO, CA - Sheriff's investigators say they have arrested a man for the attempted rape of a woman near American River College last summer.
The suspect, Ian Clark, 20, was already in custody on other charges at Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center.
Sgt. Jason Ramos with the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department said evidence recovered from the scene of the attack linked to Clark. A woman walking on the Arcade Creek nature trail July 16, 2012, was grabbed from behind and choked. She told deputies the man held a knife to her and indicated he would rape and kill her.
The woman struggled free and the man fled on on a bicycle.
Ramos said Clark will be charged with assault with a deadly weapon, assault with the intent to commit rape, sexual battery and robbery.
