The Sacramento Historic City Cemetery is a place where gardens grace graves, time stands still and history lives. Meet inside the front gate. Rain cancels.

From our military bases, busy manufacturing and agricultural industries, to scrap and blood drives, you couldn’t get away from the war effort – even in the internment camps. Meet the local men and women who served in World War II. Special guest: James Scott of the Sacramento Public Library, co-author of World War II: Sacramento.

Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Standing on J Street during the latter part of the 19th century, it seemed you could throw a rock in any direction and hit a photography studio. On this interactive tour we will be delving into the lives of local photographers and their subjects. We’re asking for shutterbugs of all levels to participate. Working together, we will have an album on Facebook dedicated to this tour and everyone’s perspective of some of the most beautiful works of art that the cemetery has to offer. Bring your Point-and-Shoot, DSLR, or cell phone and get ready to have some fun!

Friends of Sutter’s Fort proudly presents a family-friendly experience “The Haunted Fort”

Friends of Sutter’s Fort, in partnership with California State Parks and B Street Theatre Company, are proud to present “The Haunted Fort” on two Saturday evenings on October 20 & 27, 2018, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. each night. With a family-friendly format, guests will have the special opportunity to explore the dimly-lit Fort at night at their own pace, interact with knowledgeable docents in period attire (who will share scary, spooky and sometimes disturbing details of pioneer life in the 1800s), participate in fun and interactive stations set-up throughout the Fort, and also be entertained by talented performers from B Street Theatre Company.

Spring isn't the only time to visit the Historic Rose Garden. Many of the roses that early Sacramentans loved bloom again and again. Join curator Anita Clevenger to discover the old roses that take an encore in the fall, often with deeper colors and better flowers than earlier in the year. We will stroll, snip and sniff roses to our hearts' content in the midst of our beautiful, historic cemetery. Join us at the Sacramento Historic City Cemetery for this special tour on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 10:00 a.m.
